Andrew was born in San Jose, CA and grew up in San Francisco in the 1950's and 1960's. He started painting at a young age and now has a portfolio of paintings and murals done over the past 45 years, many of them depicting famous people, places and things. Some include rock stars, actors and sports figures as well as Mexican and Italian scenes, railroads and a baseball stadium.
In his early years he did posters for the Fillmore West in San Francisco of the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and Credence Clearwater Revival as well as the original Chili's Restaurant and Joe DiMaggio's Restaurant.
In the 70's he graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a bachelor of fine arts degree. He moved on to paint murals in Los Angeles, and later in the casinos, hotels and restaurants in Lake Tahoe, Reno and Las Vegas.
In 1990 he moved to Florida where he continued painting murals in hotels, nightclubs and restaurants. While in Florida he also did a poster for Cleveland Amory for a campaign to save the black bear and a painting to be put on t-shirts to collect money after Hurricane Andrew.
In 1994 he moved on to Augusta, Georgia to paint murals for the host cities of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. At that time he also painted a mural of Yankee stadium for a Yankee fan that lived in Augusta, and did a mural for James Brown at his office. He also painted murals in various restaurants in Augusta. Various mural projects in Augusta included participation of students different ages and classes at Augusta State College.
By the summer of 2000 Andrew moved to the New York area. Living in New Jersey he has painted murals at Swing 46 in New York, Broadways Grill in Red Bank, Broadway Grill in Bradley Beach, NJ, Murphy's Style Grill in Red Bank, Broadway Grill in Manasquan, Villa Galleria in Sayreville, Broadway Grill in Summit, Water Works in Seaside Heights, Bamboo Bar in Seaside Heights, Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, Spicy's in Seaside Heights, , Rattlers Steakhouse & Saloon in Lynhurst, Club Paradise in Asbury Park, Pulgia's Restaurant in New York, and in Asbury Park for Asbury Partners.
Andrew has shown canvas works in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Ft Lauderdale, FL, Hollywood, FL, Augusta, GA., Eatontown and Montclair, NJ. He has the only paintings hanging in Juilliard and The Apollo Theater in New York. He has a painting at the Martin Luther King, Jr Foundation in Atlanta, GA. and the NAACP in New York.
In 2005 Andrew relocated to Nevada. He has completed reproduction of the Ellis Island: The Lost Mural, displayed said mural at Andre Agassi Academy in Las Vegas Dec 08- Jan 09, Nevada Historical Society in Reno Feb 6 - March 15, the Northeastern Historical Museum in Elko March 23 to June 3, West Jordan City Hall, June 6 - July 20, Ely July 21 - Aug 2, Ogden, UT August 5 -31, 2009, the Churchull County Museum in Fallon, NVÂ Feb -Â May 18, Hertiage Museum in Sparks, NV May- June 2010.
In the fall of 2007 he moved to Pahrump. He painted an historical mural on the side of the Nye Co Schools Board building with help from high school students, and murals at Manse Elementary & JG Johnson Elementary. He has been displaying in Pahrump Courthouse and Winery Clubhouse. In addition, he worked at the Casino Legends Hall of Fame, Las Vegas Ice Center, Barley's Casino, several restaurants in Las Vegas, large canvases at the Poly Esters Nightclub in the Stratosphere Casino and portraits of inductees into Las Vegas Walk of Stars. He has completed 4 murals at the Jailhouse Casino, four at the Hotel Nevada, mural at Sunset Bowling Alley and 5 mural Prospector Hotel & Casino, mural on outside of Big 4 in Ely, NV in the last 2 summers. Recently relocated to Augusta GA.
In September 2010 he moved to Augusta, GA to facilitate displaying the Ellis Island Mural on the east coast. The mural was on display at the Savannah Rapids Visitor Center in Martinez, GA from Nov 19, 2010 - March 1, 2011. March 28 and at the Aiken Center for the Arts in late March.
Recently he relocated to Covington, GA to prepare for the display of the Ellis Island mural in the exhibit call "Coming to America" at the National Archives in Atlanta starting July 20, 2012. Painted historical mural at Plain Nuts in Covington in Nov 2011.
